As you would expect, I am obsessed with makeup. I never wear eyeliner, and I rarely reach for foundation, but I do use a few products every day to hide imperfections and enhance my natural features. Many of these products are not entirely necessary, and I alter my routine according to how much I time I have to get ready that morning. If I have the time, I like to pay attention to detail and add some extra steps because I love the process. Usually, I stick to my top 10. Before class you can expect to find me with a cup of coffee, Spotify playing in the background and these products spread out in front of me:
BECCA Backlight Priming Filter
I use this primer after I do my morning skincare on my cheek bones, forehead, nose and chin (basically everywhere besides my cheeks and under-eyes). It acts as a primer for highlight which sounds unnecessary, but it really does make a difference and add life to your skin. Find it here.
Benefit The POREfessional Face Primer
I use this primer strictly on areas of enlarged pores like the sides of my nose and the triangle of skin under my eyes. It blurs everything and keeps you matte in places that you don’t want getting shiny throughout the day. Find it here.
ColourPop Brow Boss Pencil in shade Light Brown
I have not quite hopped onto the Anastasia brow train because I have been using an angled brush and light brown eyeshadow to fill in my brows for years, but I recently ordered this ColourPop brow pencil because it was only $5. I love it because it’s very easy to use and not overly pigmented, so it’s difficult to mess it up. I outline my natural brow shape and fill in sparse areas, using my finger or the spoolie on the other end of the product to smudge away any areas I messed up. Find it here.
Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer in shade Light Sand
Foundation is too heavy for me for all-day wear, so I reach for this concealer to cover up any red spots or texture on my skin instead. It comes with a wand for application, but I just swipe some onto my finger and tap it onto the areas that need it for maximum coverage. Find it here. Once it’s tapped in, I use the IT Cosmetics #103 Airbrush Blurring Concealer brush to blend away any fingerprints or streaks left behind. This brush is also great to blend concealer under your eyes. Find it here.
BECCA Under-Eye Brightening Corrector
Instead of using an under-eye concealer because concealer creases on me and dries out my under-eyes, I dab this peach-toned cream on my dark circles. It doesn’t provide much coverage, but it almost acts as a highlighter for your under-eyes and reflects the light to hide your dark circles. I tap this in with my fingers and leave it without setting with powder. Find it here.
Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops in shade Moonlight or Colourpop Super Shock Highlighter in shade Flexitarian
The most important step for me is highlighter. I use a cream or liquid highlight when I don’t have much of a base down underneath. They appear more natural on the skin compared to a powder which tends to stand out as a streak on the cheeks (when I have foundation on I use the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Champagne Pop, here). I tap the custom enhancer drops (warmer-toned) in with a makeup sponge because they’re liquid, or I tap the Colourpop highlighter (cooler-toned) in with my fingers because it’s more of a cream formula. Whichever highlighter I use on my cheeks I also take down my nose, on the outline of my lips and on my eyelids as makeshift eyeshadow. Find them here and here.
Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer
One of my favorite bronzers in Benefit’s Hoola, but it is too harsh for me when I’m not wearing foundation because my skin tone is so light. On natural days, I use this bronzer by Physician’s Formula because it has a natural sheen to it and just enough pigment to make my skin look a little more alive and tanned. I also take it on a fluffy eyeshadow brush through my crease to blend the highlighter on my eyelids. Find it here.
Laura Geller Baked Blush-n-Brighten in shade Honey Suckle
Sometimes I notice a noticeable contrast between my bronzer and my highlight, so I use this natural-toned blush to create a transition between those two. It has tones of pink in it, so it does act like a blush, but it works more as a half-bronzer, half-blush with some shimmer. It blends the products on the cheeks for a more cohesive look. Find it here.
Benefit They’re Real! Mascara
While this mascara doesn’t create intense, dramatic volume like some other popular mascaras, it lengthens and darkens my lashes beautifully which is all I need on natural makeup days. I want my lashes to still look like my lashes and not flake down my face all day long, and this mascara lives up to its claims. Find it here.
Glam Glow PoutMud Wet Lip Balm Treatment
I use this lip treatment instead of lip gloss or lipstick because it doesn’t add any extra color. It’s minty and cooling on the lips and adds an intense shine while slightly plumping the lips. It’s thick enough to last longer than just a couple minutes like most lip balms (and the packaging is so pretty). I also put this on at night before I go to sleep for soft and hydrated lips by morning. Find it here.
I set all of this with the Mario Badescu Facial Spray from my skincare favorites to help the products sink into the skin. The goal here is to be glowy and look alive even though we’re moving into winter, and these products get the job done.
