My reading for today was about mindful goal setting, which included 'quarterly S.M.A.R.T. Goals.' Basically, mindful goal setting is a balance between focusing on the future and focusing on the present moment. S.M.A.R.T Goals are Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time-bound. To me, both of these things are worthwhile things to apply to my life. So, that being said, here are my goals that are both attainable and don't draw me too far from the present:
-Become an Alumni Ambassador
-Become a Gaines Fellow
-Work hard throughout the semester to get a 4.0
That being said, here's what I did today.
This morning was relaxing. I woke up around 8:30, which is pretty typical for me on week days. I had some apple and cinnamon oatmeal, and I added some peanut butter to it, which is a trick Lauryn taught me. It makes me full for a little bit longer than just the oatmeal, so on the days I decide to have it, I feel a little bit better throughout the late parts of the morning.
I worked on some homework, and crossed six things off my to do list! All my homework that is due tomorrow is finished. How exciting!
I picked up some more K-cups, because Lauryn and I were running dangerously low. It turns out, the Dunkin' Donuts bulk box is the same price as the Starbucks Verona dark roast bulk box. The choice was clear. I enjoyed a very nice, dark cup of coffee with my oatmeal and homework.
My first class was at one this afternoon. I headed over a little too early because I misread my clock, but that was okay. I didn't really mind waiting around before hand. Olivia usually gets there early, so it wasn't too bad.
We went to lunch afterward, and the salad bar had hard boiled eggs, which I was super pumped about. Our dining hall has Gold Peak unsweetened tea: also a score.
Creative Writing was the same as always, talking about how to be better writers and reading other people's writing. Nothing super exciting there.
I picked out my outfit for my Gaines interview on Wednesday morning. My shoes came in the mail today, and I'm really excited about having a good, versatile shoe I can wear to things when the dress code is business or business casual. They're classic oxford with a three inch heel. They make me seem taller than I actually am, which I feel like demands a level of respect... being able to look someone in the eye when you shake their hand is key.
I ate dinner in the room. Since all my homework is done, I'm just sitting around with a nice face mask, something I rarely get to do, sipping on a coffee. (I know it's a little late for coffee, but I just love coffee so much.) Anyway, I had a really good day. I'm finding it hard to apply the practices I need to apply at all because I'm just having better days and less bad thoughts.
Thanks for reading!
